It December twenty-four, there is probably no need to write anymore!
We will close the doors by 3...
Then at home, we will be!
The Elves will take off their little hats,
And leave their shoes upon the mat!
For tis the season to be jolly,
And deck the halls with boughs of Holly!
We hope your Christmas is really fine,
And we will re-open on December 29!
A Merry and Safe Christmas From Everyone At Nutpatch Confectionary!

Time to think about Santa snacks! I remember carrots and beer as santa snacks, when I was a child. The carrot for the reindeer and the beer for Santa. You would have to feel sorry for poor old Santa if all he got was beer at each household! What about some cookies? Gingerbread cookies?
I leant to make gingerbread in high school cooking class. It is one of those recipes that has been really useful and I have made it nearly every year!
Anyway to go along with all things festive, I have included some pictures below of my gingerbread making day, so your enjoyment!

Who doesn't love Christmas decorations? More to the point, who doesn't love chocolate Christmas decorations?
This year Christmas balls have been overwhelmingly popular, so sadly if you are reading this now its probably too late to purchase any, as these sold out at the end of November! Nonetheless I thought you might still appreciate looking at them anyway!

So the tree is up, its now time to clear all the hiding places of gifts, get them wrapped and under that Christmas tree!
What better way to finish off your gift than with a chocolate Christmas gift tag from one of our trees in store?

We are half way there, there are now 12 days to Christmas! Things tend to heat up from here on in. You all know what I am talking about too! You know, the shops are busy, its hard to get a parking place in the city, everyone is stressed to the max trying to get their shopping done!
At the Nutpatch there is not much space to get stressed in! For those who have visited the shop, they would know that it is rather small! We like to take the time with our customers to help them with their selections and answer any questions. We aim to make a visit to the shop a delightful experience! So escape the hustle and bustle this Christmas at the Nutpatch Shop. Remember it can get busy in our store, but we are always here to help!

Those of you who have been following the blog, may have noticed that each day to our blog advent calendar had a rhyme. What rhymes with 11, other than words like heaven, seven and Kevin, non of which were very helpful in my Christmas rhyme or I had already used them!
Anyway the tradition in our house is the Christmas tree cannot go up until after December 11. Why you may ask, well December 11 is the last birthday in the household. So today or any day after today out comes the Christmas tree! Now there is the debate of living tree versus plastic tree. A few years ago we sent the parents out to purchase a Norwegian Spruce in a pot to be decorated. We had always had living trees, either in a pot or when we were younger one that had been harvested or brought from the side of the road! There was something nice about the smell, the 1000 scratches you would get putting on the decorations and the fact that it would drop pine needles all over the carpet! Of course by the time all the pine needles had just about fallen off, it was about 12 days after Christmas and time for the tree to be taken down!
Behold that day when we thought we were getting a real living potted Norwegian Spruce and this huge (and I cannot emphasise the huge enough) white box arrived. Correctly stamped Norwegian Spruce, but in a box none the less! My sister and I were somewhat devastated for about the first hour. Once we were over the initial shock that mum and dad had brought a plastic tree, we ventured to open the box.
Wow-wee it was spectacular, in three parts this tree stood over 3 metres high, and even had 'real looking' pine needles, ok granted there was no authentic pine needle smell, but it sure did scratch just like the real thing! Not only that the branches were perfectly placed, and the decorations sat perfectly in every branch! Truly we were converted!
As children we had always admired the Myer Christmas Trees, all perfectly and symmetrically decorated. One year I remember the lady in the Christmas shop giving us advice on how they managed to get the decorations perfectly placed! Now there it was, in our own home, a perfectly decorated Christmas Tree! The decorations had been selected with much scrutiny and a colour scheme was set and adhered to! So there you have it, our Christmas tree story! Don't get me wrong I still love the real deal, those huge beautiful looking pines in all their glory, like the ones they would be donated each year from someones property to sit out the back of the Argyle Street Car park near Habitat.
Anyway Happy Christmas Tree Decorating!

Ok so we are six days into December, and I feel like I am prepping you for a big sports game! Are you keeping up with the festive pace? Are you feeling a little tired from all the preparations, work Christmas parties and social functions? Have no fear Nutpatch Chocolate coated coffee beans are here!
These are strong little beans and believe me when I say you only need to have a couple to get that instant caffeine hit! Don't eat the entire pack in one sitting as I am sure you will feel rather unwell!

You are in for a treat today. I would like to introduce to the blog the Petit Noir! This creation features salted caramel, encased in dark chocolate, with a peanut ganache, topped with black river salt!
Its sold individually and is a rather large log chocolate, probably best to share, but note I did say probably! I have eaten a whole one of these and it truly is a temptation for the senses!
If you think its all a bit too much but would still like to try, then there is also Petit Noir Junior!

What a surprise it was this morning when my sister, who had walked to buy a newspaper had the wind inadvertently pick up the newspaper and out flew the entertainment guide. There on the payment lay the guide with none other than our father on the front page! Our favourite chocolate man and his little Kettering shop bringing so much joy to so many people!
His proud daughters have included the pictures on the blog in case you missed it!
Christmas Hampers, why not make December Second Christmas Hamper day!
At Nutpatch we have many Christmas Hampers full of a variety of our products to delight ever the most difficult to buy for family member or friend!
Alternatively you can select a few of your favourite products and we can make them up for you into a hamper. If you are thinking you would like to do this, then best come in early and pick out what you would like, to give our Christmas Hamper Elf enough time to package it all up for you!

Deck the Halls, Jingle Bells, We Wish you a Merry Christmas, its time to crack out the Christmas Carols! Listen to them on your way to work in the car, ensure you sing to them and its sure to brighten your day (or make other road users wonder what exactly you are on about as they pass you on the road)!
So its December 1, there is no denying it now, Christmas is on its way!
By now you should have made the Christmas cakes and puddings, if you are intending to make them! Its not too late if you are contemplating making some types of Christmas cakes, you know the ones that don't need months worth of marinating for the dried fruit! I made 10 this year, they are all wrapped in foil awaiting to be wrapped in cellophane to be given as gifts!
While at the Nutpatch shop we don't supply Christmas cakes and puddings, I thought todays post should be about cakes and puddings. If you want one or are thinking about getting one, go out today and either get your ingredients or find a nice place that makes them! There are plenty of great store brought puddings and cakes to be had, find the one that takes your fancy, purchase, and then tick that off the to do list!
Welcome to the festive season followers of the Nutpatch blog! I hope you are all surviving the lead up to the festive season! If you are reading this we are most certainly in December and the count down is on!
Over the next 24 days I am going to write a post a day (or nearly everyday), to help you get inspired for Christmas and help you with ideas for those difficult to buy individuals! Not that there is anything wrong with being difficult to buy for, lets face it who doesn't love a challenge!
Anyway think of this as your own blog advent calendar! Who knows what you will find each day!
